# Set up a card terminal

From unpacking to registration in Spreat. Choose your device first, and its guide appears below.

## Your card terminal

Which device do you have?

### Stripe Reader S700/S710

from Stripe

### [BBPOS WisePOS E](https://beta.spreat.com/support/card-terminals?device=bbpos-wisepos-e)

from Stripe

### [SumUp Solo](https://beta.spreat.com/support/card-terminals?device=sumup-solo)

from SumUp

## 1. What is in the box

The box holds the card terminal, a USB-C cable and a power adapter. A docking station and a hub for a network cable are available as accessories.

## 2. Charge and switch on

Plug the USB-C cable into the left side of the device and connect it to a socket with the supplied power adapter. Use exactly this adapter: the device needs 12 W, and a computer’s USB port is not enough.

Hold the power button on the right side until the screen turns on. Leave the device plugged in overnight too: it restarts at midnight and installs updates then.

## 3. Connect to the internet

On first start the device asks for language, country and Wi-Fi. Choose your Wi-Fi and enter its password. You can change the Wi-Fi later in the settings under “Network”.

For a network cable you need the hub. Plug the network cable into the hub, connect the hub to the power adapter, then connect it to the device with the USB-C cable. When a network cable is connected to the hub, the device uses the cable instead of Wi-Fi.

The S710 can also use the mobile network (4G/LTE).

## 4. Install updates

As soon as the device is online, it looks for updates. If it offers one, tap “Update” and wait until it is done. This takes a few minutes.

## 5. Show the registration code

Swipe right from the left edge of the screen and tap “Settings”. Enter the admin passcode `07139` and tap “Generate pairing code”. The device shows three words joined by hyphens, for example `puppies-plug-could`.

The device shows its menus in the language you chose on first start.

## 6. Register in Spreat

The device then loads its settings and further updates. This takes 20 to 30 minutes. Once it shows the welcome screen it is ready, and the till offers it for payment.

## If something does not work

- **Code rejected:** A code is valid only briefly and only once. Generate a new one in the settings and enter it right away.
- **No connection:** Open the settings and then “Diagnostics”. If “Stripe connectivity” does not say “Passed”, your network does not let the device reach Stripe.
- **Does not charge:** Use the supplied power adapter. If the battery is completely empty, the screen stays dark for up to 30 minutes even though the device is already charging.
- **Network cable not detected:** Connect the network cable and power first, and only then connect the device. If the network cable icon is missing at the top, disconnect the device and connect it again.
